Recent and Upcoming!

February marked the premiere of the 10-episode series “The Tournament,” a massive 3-year long undertaking to tell the definitive history of the ACC’s Men’s Basketball Tournament. The project, another collaboration with Hock Films, was a blast to work on and took me deeper into North Carolina basketball than I ever could’ve imagine. Check out the trailer below and watching re-airs on the ACC Network or streaming on the ESPN+ service. You can also read this story from the North Carolina State University Library about the research conducted in their unparalleled basketball film collection here.

Next up will be “SHARK” an ESPN 30 for 30 documentary on legendary golfer Greg Norman, with a detailed look at his life, career, and unprecedented collapse at the 1996 Masters Tournament. I had a great time working with three of my former HBO Sports colleagues, Jason Hehir and Thomas Odelfelt as co-directors, and producer Matt Chase. Check out the trailer and tune in this Tuesday night!

Lastly, I had the privilege to work on “They Call Me Magic,” the 4-part documentary on the life and career of NBA icon Magic Johnson. This series premieres on Apple+ April 22nd. Tune in and enjoy!

WE’RE GOING TO SPACE!

September 6th will see the premiere of Episodes 1 & 2 of the new docuseries “Countdown: Inspiration4 Mission to Space,” from TIME Studios and “The Last Dance” director Jason Hehir. As a born-and-raised Floridian where space was always part of the news cycle, it’s quite exciting to be part of a production like this. The I4 mission will be the first all-civilian mission and will orbit the planet for 3 days. Check out the official trailer below, and tune in on Labor Day!

Hot Summer, New Series!

I hope everyone is staying safe and well this summer. And with the upcoming Tokyo Olympics just around the corner, I am excited to share work I have done on two fantastic series as Archival Producer.

First is “Golden: The Journey of USA’s Elite Gymnasts,” a 6-episode docu-follow about a handful of female gymnasts vying to make Team USA. The first 4 episodes are already live, with the final two premiering on the Peacock streaming service July 14 and 21.

Up next is “Naomi Osaka,” from the Academy Award-nominated director of “Time,” Garrett Bradley. This 3-episode series looks at the life and career of the 4-time Grand Slam tennis champion over a roughly 15-month period in 2019 and 2020.

More to come in the following months, but for now, check out the trailers for both series below, and hopefully check out the shows too!

It’s Wrestling Time

I have had the pleasure of working with the fantastic crews at JMH Films on a series of three Biography documentaries for A&E’s upcoming block of WWE-focused programs. The first one will premiere April 18th on the one and only ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. Other wrestlers will be featured weekly over an eight-week period, including Mick Foley and the Ultimate Warrior, which I was also happy to have worked on as Archival Producer. Check out the preview for the series below, and tune in soon!

THE DAY SPORTS STOOD STILL

Today – 1-year to the day since professional sports stopped amidst growing concerns over the pandemic – HBO has released the trailer for “The Day Sports Stood Still.” This project was really exciting and challenging to be a part of. Aside from navigating tons of sports leagues, news sources and individual archives, the story played out in real time, constantly necessitating shifts in what we needed. Now streaming on HBO MAX.

Tiger Woods & Top Class

In the midst of Groundhog Day over the past 11 months, it completely escaped me to share the trailer for “TIGER” the two-part documentary that recently premiered on HBO, and is now available for streaming on the HBO MAX app. As a lifelong golfer and fan, this project was a true dream to work on and presented an array of challenges that really pushed me the way that no other project has done before.

In other news, I recently had the pleasure to reconnect with two of my friends and former colleagues from my nine years working at HBO Sports. “Top Class” is a 6-part docuseries that followed the Sierra Canyon High School basketball team during the 2019-2020 season. Featuring the likes of the sons of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, as well as BJ Boston who now plays for the University of Kentucky, and Ziaire Williams who now plays for Stanford, the series is a great insight into the much-hyped and dissected world of top level high school basketball programs. The show will premiere on Amazon’s free streaming service IMDb TV on February 26th. Check out trailer below:

I have several projects coming out in the upcoming months and am very excited to share news of their release and trailers in the near future. Stay well!

Go Vote!

I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to collaborate with some incredibly talented and devoted people to get out the word to vote! L&F was able to provide historical sports research and rights guidance to help promote the use of sports arenas and stadiums around the country that are being used as voting super centers.

“The Weight of Gold”

Premiering Wednesday July 29 at 9PM, check out Podium Pictures new hour-long doc for HBO, “The Weight of Gold.” This great film takes a look at the mental issues Olympic athletes face when the Closing Ceremony is over and everyone goes home. It was a pleasure to work on this project and I hope everyone gets a chance to hear their stories.
